Dr. Sunil Budhrani, MD, MPH, MBA, is Chief Innovation & Medical Officer at Capital Rx, a role he was named to in 2023 as the company's first, responsible for clinical partnerships, expansion of the JUDI platform, and enhanced pharmacy benefit and administration solutions. He is a board-certified emergency medicine physician, a Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University, and continues to practice as an attending physician at the Veterans Administration.

Bringing a Physician's Perspective to Pharmacy Benefit Innovation

Sunil's path to Capital Rx runs through some of healthcare's most fragmented terrain: he previously served as CEO of Innovation Health, a first-of-its-kind payer-provider partnership between CVS/Aetna and Inova Health System in the Washington, DC metro area, and was the first Chief Medical Officer of Evergreen Health Care, Maryland's Affordable Care Act health plan. He also founded CareClix Telemedicine, one of the first national end-to-end telemedicine companies, and PrimeMed Urgent Care Systems, a multi-site regional urgent care network. That combination of payer, provider, and digital health experience is what he now brings to expanding Capital Rx's JUDI platform, with a particular focus on value-based care, population health, and integrating pharmacy and medical benefits that too often operate as disconnected systems.
