Why Enthusiasm for AI Can't Outrun Understanding
Before joining the New York Fed, Murielle worked as an HRIS Specialist for Sanofi in Canada, giving her a background spanning both pharmaceutical and public-sector HR technology environments. Her clearest framework for AI adoption is that leadership enthusiasm "cannot move faster than understanding," meaning organizations need to be just as clear and transparent about guardrails, expectations, and known limitations as they are about the upside of new tools. She frames responsible AI guardrails using a fence metaphor: if employees know where the fence is, they know where they're free to explore inside it, whereas silence just leads people to assume they can't use a tool at all. She's also careful to frame AI adoption to employees as a genuine commitment to enhancing their work, not a step toward eliminating it.
