Medical Director of Menopause Care
Amazon One Medical

Dr. Erin Duralde is Medical Director of Menopause Care at Amazon One Medical. She is a board-certified internist and a menopause specialist certified through The Menopause Society, with a background in academic medicine research focused on identifying gaps in care for women.

Making the Case That Menopause Care Belongs in Primary Care

Erin joined One Medical three years ago to build and scale its menopause care program, training hundreds of providers in evidence-based treatment after years of what she describes as a widespread implementation gap: clear clinical guidelines exist, but a widely misinterpreted early-2000s hormone therapy trial created lasting, often unwarranted fear that left an entire generation of women underserved. Her central argument is that menopause care works best as primary care, not a specialist referral, because it requires understanding a patient's full health picture and a continuous relationship over what is typically a four-to-seven-year symptomatic transition, not a single visit. She has helped train more than a third of One Medical's providers in advanced menopause care, reducing the need for external specialist referrals, and frequently discusses menopause's under-recognized links to cardiovascular and metabolic health, not just classic symptoms like hot flashes and sleep disruption.

Topics Erin speaks on

  • Why menopause care belongs in primary care, not a separate specialty referral
  • The workplace and productivity impact of untreated perimenopause and menopause
  • Evidence-based hormone therapy and dispelling misconceptions about "bioidentical" treatment
  • Menopause as an under-recognized marker for cardiovascular and metabolic risk
  • Building an internal training pipeline for menopause-competent primary care

Sessions with Achieve

Erin is a featured guest on the Achieve webcast "From Symptoms to Support: Rethinking Menopause Care in the Workplace" (January 27, 2026), presented in partnership with Amazon One Medical alongside Joshua Dunsby and moderated by Dan Schawbel of Workplace Intelligence. In it, she explains why One Medical built menopause training into primary care rather than referring out, and addresses common questions about hormone therapy, lab testing, and how employees can advocate for themselves when a provider isn't familiar with menopause care.
