Daniel Cano

Director, US HR Operations & Employee Experience
Lummus Technology

Daniel Cano is Director of US HR Operations and Employee Experience at Lummus Technology, a global licensor of process technologies in clean fuels, renewables, petrochemicals, polymers, gas processing, and catalysts. He provides HR leadership and strategic support to operations management across talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and talent management for the company's Technology Operating Group.

From Global Mobility to Building a Recognition Program From Scratch

Daniel has spent his career at Lummus Technology since progressing through roles including Senior Manager, Human Resources and Operations & Compensation Director. Before Lummus, he was Global Manager, Human Resources Mobility at Halliburton, where he coordinated international assignment deployment for expatriate and commuter employees, including hands-on crisis support for employees navigating immigration and border issues during international assignments. More recently, he led the launch of Lummus Technology's first employee recognition program, timing it deliberately alongside a companywide refresh of core values so recognition would reinforce specific behaviors rather than sit apart from them. He designed bespoke recognition badges in-house and has pushed managers to make recognition specific (naming exactly what someone did and who helped, not just praising generally) rather than generic. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Texas at Austin and recently took on the presidency of a professional HR association.

Sessions with Achieve

Daniel is a featured panelist on the Achieve webcast "Recognition That Works: Turning Global Rewards & Recognition Insights into a Living System" (February 19, 2026), presented in partnership with Vantage Circle. Moderated by John Land of Vantage Circle, the panel also included Amy Latham (LPL Financial) and Kaitlyn Heilweil (Edelman Financial Engines). Daniel spoke candidly about being early in the recognition journey at Lummus, sharing that an executive recognizing a junior employee by name, someone the employee didn't realize the executive even knew, became one of the program's most memorable early moments.
