Courtney King
Courtney King, MS, is Senior Vice President of People & Culture at BeatBox Beverages, the Austin-based "World's Tastiest Portable Party Punch" company. She joined when BeatBox had fewer than 40 employees and has led People & Culture through the company's exponential growth in size, creativity, and reach since, progressing from Director to Vice President to her current SVP role.
Protecting Scrappy Culture While Building the Structure to Scale It
Courtney's core philosophy is that culture isn't a department at BeatBox, it's the company's edge, and her job is to protect the brand's scrappy, creative energy while building the operational structure needed to scale it responsibly. She leads a People & Culture team spanning recruiting, onboarding, learning, leadership development, analytics, and engagement, and argues that retention and engagement are the natural results of a culture that empowers people to do great work and have fun doing it, not separate initiatives layered on top. A specific example: she gives employees explicit psychological safety to fail fast and learn faster, treating experimentation as the actual source of innovation rather than a risk to be minimized. She holds a Master of Science in Human Resources and speaks widely on aligning people and culture strategy with rapid business growth.
Topics Courtney speaks on
