Unmind: Clinically-Backed Workplace Mental Health
Unmind is a B2B workplace mental health platform offering proactive, clinically-backed tools for employees to measure and improve their mental health. The company was founded in 2016 in London by Dr. Nick Taylor, a clinical psychologist who serves as CEO, alongside co-founder Steve Peralta; the platform originated from a mental health program Taylor developed to support frontline UK National Health Service staff (UKTN; Fierce Healthcare, 2026). Unmind has raised more than $100 million in total funding across multiple rounds, including a $10 million Series A in February 2020, a $47 million Series B in May 2021 led by EQT Ventures, a $35 million Series C in 2025 led by TELUS Global Ventures, and a further $26 million in growth capital from Trinity Capital in October 2025 (Tracxn; UKTN; Unmind blog, 2026). In 2023, Unmind acquired Frankie Health, a Dublin-based workplace mental health startup (Tracxn, 2026).
What Unmind does
Unmind's platform helps employees proactively measure, understand, and nurture their mental health across seven core areas: fulfilment, coping, calmness, happiness, connection, health, and sleep (UKTN, 2026). The platform delivers personalized assessments, bite-sized exercises, self-guided programs for issues like stress and sleep, and confidential signposting to further support, and can be accessed anonymously on any device. More recently, Unmind has introduced an AI-powered component called Nova, aimed at guiding each person to the appropriate level of care within the platform (Unmind blog, 2025).
Where it fits
Unmind is used by more than 2 million employees across 110 countries, with named clients including Uber, British Airways, Virgin Media, Samsung, and John Lewis & Partners (Fierce Healthcare, 2026). It's a fit for large, often multinational organizations that want a proactive, preventative mental health benefit for the entire workforce, rather than a reactive employee assistance program employees only turn to in crisis.
Why this matters for people leaders
Most employer mental health support has historically been reactive, an EAP hotline employees call only after something has already gone wrong, which does little to prevent burnout or disengagement from building in the first place. Unmind's explicit bet on prevention, giving every employee a way to regularly check in on their own mental health the way they might track physical health, reflects a genuine shift in how workplace mental health is being framed. For organizations focused on Culture, Performance, and Retention, that shift matters because burnout and disengagement are usually visible in the data well before someone reaches a crisis point, and a platform built for early, everyday use is positioned to catch that earlier.
