Perceptyx: AI-Powered Employee Listening and Action
Perceptyx is an AI-powered employee experience platform focused on employee listening, analytics, and turning survey insights into action. The company was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Temecula, California (Owler, 2026). Ross Wainwright currently serves as CEO, following co-founder and former CEO John Borland's departure in April 2025 (Owler, 2026). Perceptyx has raised roughly $10 million in disclosed funding from investors including TCV, and has grown substantially through acquisition, including at least six acquisitions to date, most notably Waggl (now Dialogue, a crowdsourced real-time employee feedback tool), Humu (a behavioral "nudge" platform co-founded by former Google HR chief Laszlo Bock), Kantar's Employee Insights Business, and, most recently in March 2026, Lyceum AI, which connects employee experience data to learning and development (Tracxn; GlobeNewswire, 2026). Perceptyx has appeared on the Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for five consecutive years as of 2020 and currently serves more than 650 enterprise clients, including more than 30 percent of the Fortune 100 (ForesightIQ; HR Tek, 2026).
What Perceptyx does
Perceptyx's platform supports continuous employee listening through a range of survey formats, pulse, always-on, lifecycle, and crowdsourced surveys, alongside 360-degree assessments and an AI-driven passive listening tool called Cultivate that analyzes workplace communications to surface productivity, fairness, and support insights (HR Tek, 2026). Following its Humu acquisition, the platform can deliver targeted behavioral "nudges" to specific employees and managers based on what listening data reveals, aiming to close what the company calls the gap between "insight and action" that many employee survey programs get stuck on. More recent additions position the platform to also connect skill development directly to workforce listening signals via the Lyceum AI acquisition.
Where it fits
Perceptyx serves large, complex enterprises, with named clients including BASF, Comcast, Dell, 3M, AB InBev, FedEx, M&T Bank, Citi, and Whole Foods (Startempire Wire, 2022). It's a fit for large organizations that have outgrown a basic annual engagement survey and want continuous, AI-analyzed listening tied directly to specific, actionable behavior change at the manager and employee level.
Why this matters for people leaders
The oldest complaint about employee engagement surveys is that they surface real problems and then nothing changes, because turning a survey finding into a specific behavior change for a specific manager is genuinely hard to do at scale. Perceptyx's acquisition strategy, layering behavioral nudge technology and skill development on top of its listening data, is a direct attempt to close exactly that gap. For organizations focused on Culture, Performance, and Retention, that "insight to action" problem is often the actual bottleneck in engagement work, not a lack of survey data, which makes a platform explicitly built to automate the action step worth watching.
