MoveSpring - A Reward Gateway Company

MoveSpring: Corporate Wellness, Now Part of Reward Gateway

MoveSpring was a corporate wellness app offering gamified activity challenges and social health communities to help employees build healthier habits. The company was founded in 2014 in Chicago, Illinois, by co-founders including Anthony Knierim, who served as COO (Mergr; CB Insights, 2026). Before its acquisition, MoveSpring reported partnering with more than 750 companies and powering health communities reaching over one million people (Crunchbase, 2026). In March 2022, MoveSpring was acquired by Reward Gateway, marking Reward Gateway's second strategic acquisition following Abry Partners and Castik Capital's majority investment in the company in August 2021 (Business Wire, March 2022). MoveSpring's technology became the foundation for what Reward Gateway now calls its Wellbeing+ product, following Reward Gateway's own 2023 acquisition by Edenred (Reward Gateway, 2026).

What MoveSpring does

MoveSpring's platform combines gamified activity challenges (step counts, fitness competitions, virtual races), a social community feed, and a suite of programming tools that let organizations run wellness challenges without requiring a clinical, top-down approach to employee health (Crunchbase, 2026). The product integrates with popular fitness tracking devices and apps, and its "bottom-up" design philosophy prioritizes making wellness fun, approachable, and inclusive across all fitness levels rather than centering on medical metrics.

Where it fits

Now integrated as part of Reward Gateway's Wellbeing+ offering, MoveSpring's activity and challenge features serve organizations using Reward Gateway's broader employee engagement platform. It's a fit for HR teams that want a lightweight, social, and inclusive way to encourage physical activity as part of a broader wellbeing strategy, rather than a clinical corporate health program.

Why this matters for people leaders

Corporate wellness programs often struggle with adoption because they feel clinical, mandatory, or disconnected from what employees actually enjoy. A platform built around games, social community, and team-based challenges addresses that adoption problem directly by making participation fun rather than another compliance task. For organizations focused on Culture, Performance, and Retention, wellbeing programs that people actually want to use, rather than technically offer, are the ones that show up in retention and engagement numbers.
