Engagedly: Continuous Performance Management, Now Combined With Energage

Engagedly is a performance management, employee engagement, and talent development platform. The company was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, by co-founders Srikant "Sri" Chellappa (President and Co-Founder), Jayashankar Balaraman, and Pankaj Singh (Crunchbase; YourStory, 2026). Chellappa previously spent more than 20 years leading technology and management consulting teams, including roles at EY and Capgemini, and separately has a career as a writer, director, and producer of six feature films distributed on platforms including Netflix and Showtime (Forbes HR Council, 2026). In February 2022, Engagedly announced an investment from Aquiline Credit Opportunities to fuel global expansion of what it calls its E3 platform, built around the framework of Engage, Enable, and Execute. In September 2025, Engagedly acquired Butterfly.ai, a frontline employee feedback platform, building on Engagedly's earlier 2023 acquisition of theEMPLOYEEapp, both explicitly framed as strengthening the company's frontline-first strategy (Engagedly press release, 2025). Engagedly has also joined forces with Energage, the organization behind the Top Workplaces recognition program, combining Engagedly's talent management technology with Energage's workplace culture research and expertise.

What Engagedly does

Engagedly's E3 platform combines continuous performance management, goal setting (OKRs), real-time feedback, peer recognition, learning, and mentoring into one system, aimed at digitizing performance management for remote and hybrid workforces (PRNewswire, 2022). With the addition of Butterfly.ai's technology, the platform now extends specifically into frontline employee feedback, delivered via SMS, kiosk, or chatbot for workers who don't have regular email or app access, and the Energage combination adds workplace culture benchmarking and Top Workplaces-style survey methodology into the mix.

Where it fits

Engagedly reports serving more than 400 mid-market and enterprise organizations, with clients including Lifetime Fitness, Yamaha, and Coupa (PRNewswire, 2022). It's a fit for mid-market HR teams that want performance management, engagement, and learning unified in one platform, and increasingly for organizations with a meaningful frontline or deskless workforce component given the company's recent acquisitions specifically targeting that population.

Why this matters for people leaders

Engagedly's acquisition strategy, adding frontline-specific feedback tools and workplace culture benchmarking on top of its core performance platform, reflects a broader recognition in the industry that performance management built for desk-based knowledge workers often fails frontline and deskless employees entirely. For organizations focused on Culture, Performance, and Retention with a mixed workforce, spanning both office and frontline roles, a platform that's actively building out coverage for both populations, rather than treating frontline as an afterthought, addresses a real and common gap in performance and engagement tooling.
